another step ahead

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

i just upgraded to the RC2 of WordPress 1.2 and i am still totally overwhelmed by the features and functionality of this publishing platform. i do not regret my decision to switch, not at all. some say it is too early to jump ship and abandon MT. well, maybe that is true, but WordPress has all the features i wanted to see in MT long ago. although i should continue working on my thesis i decided to take a day off, enjoy the great weather, and tinker with wp.

time to change

after all the stir that mt 3.0 created, i gave it some serious thought and read what fellow bloggers say. mt seems to be a dead end in the long run, you have to move on if you want to evolve. that is exactly what i did and switched to WordPress. it is quite amazing so far. please excuse the default layout of the blog, i will customize the templates ASAP.

the end of mt?

movabletype 3.0 is out and they are going to charge almost U$ 70 for the personal edition. you can still get a limited (ie. one author and 3 blogs) version for free, but i have a dull feeling. what worries me is that “comment registration” service called typekey. is it yet another way to track people who comment in various blogs and spy on them? does it block comment spam efficiently? i do not know. now that i am really happy with mt-blacklist and stuff i am not going to upgrade to 3.0 or even pay for it, well, at least not U$ 70. that is rather steep, U$ 25 would be fine for a personal edition. i am going to stick with the current version 2.661. bad SixApart, no donut for you.

according to the “bloginality” test, i’m a INTJ and i believe that most of the things said there about this particular type of personality apply to me.

i’m starting to feel better. yes, really. a slight headache but otherwise i’m doing really fine. read blogs of other people today and discovered that some of them feel just like i do. it’s good to know that you are not alone. aditionally, started to read “Mr. Commitment” by Mike Gayle. although it is definitely very british (for my taste) i like it alot.

to whom in concerns…

i do not tolerate offensive comments in my blog. and i know exactly who and where you are since all comments are logged. (ip addresses are a wonderful thing.) if you offer such a “great” advice again i will consider this as a thread and attack against me. it will be easy to forward your data to the authorities.

reviewed the recent web server logs and discovered that my blog is drawing some traffic. the most common search string are neurotic (depression), feeling empty, and love me t-shirt. funny, isn’t it? i usually write about my life and things i am currently contemplating. as a result, a simple google search gives you an impression what i am like? i don’t think so because i guess we are different people online. we are way more constructing our “self” and identity on the net. and that is one aspect of my thesis as well. btw. i figured that Kiefer Sutherland’s face has some similarities to Meat Loaf’s. am i paranoid here?

things can only get better

after a good (?) night’s sleep i finally managed to run this blog using cgiwrap. yes, i am paranoid. *g*

so here we are now…

blogger’s been unable to upload for more than a week now… and this sucks. so i decided to set up my own blog… *g*
everything’s still a little rough and needs polishing, including a template to fit into the rest of the site… unfortunately, i do not have time for this right now… maybe later this week.
