sommet de la francophonie
this summit really managed to get my attention because it appears to be unique and we do not have an equivalent to “la francophonie” in the german-speaking countries and regions. as a result i find it quite intriguing. well, we do have the EU, but this can’t be compared to la francophonie where the language (and the associated culture) appears to be the common basis for the community. i was also surprised that french is the official language in so many countries in Africa… and even Greece and some other central/east european countries expressed their interest in la francophonie… this is really astonishing.
