“people who aren’t watching Alias are fools”, says a guy on a radio interview with Victor Garber. it is really great that they have included some really fun stuff as bonus on the boxset of season two. well, i am happy that my copy arrived today along with the season season of Frasier. so, a lot of stuff to watch and so little time - as always. btw. Lacan and Zizek are going to make my head explode or crack or something. that stuff is giving me a serious headache. i really thought that i would be way easier to merge the theory with practical examples from the selected films.

Monday, June 7th, 2004king of fools
Saturday, June 5th, 2004i finally managed to catch a glimpse of the Edguy musicvideo “King of Fools”. you have to know that i rarely watch regular tv, let alone MTV. when i turn on tv, they are usually playing stuff i do not like and not good metal like Edguy. so you have to find other ways to watch musicvideos. (mental note: the next time Edguy comes to Austria, i simply have to visit the concert.) however, i even managed to make some screencaps:

eats, shoots & leaves
Friday, June 4th, 2004i updated my bedside table booklist. i am reading right now: “turning thirty” by Mike Gayle, “dancing barefoot” by Wil Wheaton, and “eats, shoots & leaves. the zero tolerance approach to punctuation” by Lynne Truss. the latter is simply hilarious! it is full of puns and also some serious discussion about the (mis-)use of punctuation in the english language. here is an example that also explains the weird title of the book (puns are intended):
a panda walks into a cafe. he orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. the panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "i'm a panda", he says, at the door. "look it up." the waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "panda. large, black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to china. eats, shoots and leaves."
smooth sailing
Thursday, June 3rd, 2004the meeting with my supervisor went smoothly and now i am digging into the next chapters of my thesis. i guess my preliminary schedule is going to work out - unless something unexpected happens. remember, you can never cancel out the Real. yeah, welcome to the desert of the Real.
change of plans
Tuesday, June 1st, 2004no thesis writing for me tomorrow because i have an appointment with my supervisor. yeah, don’t we all love appointments on short notice? well, the practical part is making good progress so i guess it should not be a problem.
