hot stuff

Tuesday, April 29th, 2003

not really, rather a surprisingly hot day, way too hot for the season. attended class, which was not amusing because the seminar rooms at “our” department do not have airconditioning and that sucks big time. but refreshment was near, just outside in the parking lot! never purchase a car without A/C! yeah, this is going to be a hot summer, at least i hope so.

prozac anyone?

another weekend’s over, i’m immersed in work and i hate my life. tomorrow’s not gonna be less bad.

stupid white men…

…and other sorry excuses for the state of the nation. that’s the bestselling book almost everywhere right now. i decided to join the fun and ordered a copy. it arrived yesterday and although i really do have plenty of other books to read, i couldn’t resist to take a look at it. hilarious stuff! grab your copy!

truth takes time…

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003

composed (yeah i guess that is the right term for it) my CV and wondered what my life would be like if my past was different. i can’t deny it, i surely made some mistakes and decisions without considering the possible outcome. i used to believe that “the truth is out there”; no it isn’t! the truth is “in here”, in ourself, in the very center of our being. and it takes time…
so how do you define who you really are? who do you think you are?

pure nostalgia?

Sunday, April 20th, 2003

the time when i watched television for hours each day is long over. today i found some rather interesting video tapes dating back to 1993. we got our satellite dish in 1992 and well, that was news to me. so many things to watch! going even further back, there are a few programmes i really loved in my youth. for example both German productions “Patrik Pacard” and “Oliver Maass”, aired in the mid-1980s. the world was a romantic place then, the hero won in the end. but i guess that’s always true… the past is always nostalgic…

if you’re gone…

Saturday, April 19th, 2003

I think you’re so mean - I think we should try
I think I could need - this in my life
I think I’m scared - I think too much
I know this is wrong it’s a problem I’m dealing
If you’re gone - maybe it’s time to come home
There’s an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move

conspiracy theories

Thursday, April 17th, 2003

i still love ‘em! there is nothing like pure coincidence, it’s conspiracy. yes, i am neurotic and a little paranoid, but still… i use to believe that when something can’t be explained, it has to be a conspiracy, a hidden agenda, to some degree. great stuff for entertaining television. my latest favorite: AliaS.

nothing important happened today…

Waiting for tomorrow, for a little ray of light
Waiting for tomorrow just to see your smile again
Take away my sorrow from a blistered heart of mine
Where are you now if you are there anywhere

why i read arthur kroker

Monday, April 14th, 2003

Bruce Sterling describes in the preface of “Spasm”, why he actually reads arthur kroker — one of the hippest contemporary media and social theorists.
Frankly, I only stumbled across Arthur Kroker because, in antlike fashion, I was following the scent-trail of people dressed in black. I myself customarily dress in black. So does Arthur, apparently. I’ve noticed over the years that a certain fraction of the entire populace of the Group of 7 dresses in black.
yes, i costumarily dress in black, too. but i stumbled across mr. kroker while searchig the net for information about the (social / critical) theory of cyberspace.
